London Bridge is Falling Down
Ok, not the London Bridge, just my local Bay Bridge. Last Tuesday, a chunk of the newly repaired section of the bridge fell into traffic, fortunately no one was hurt. This made the local authorities close the bridge.
Over 250,000 vehicles travel on that bridge every day including the bus I usually ride on or my car if I need to drive. All the other bridges, ferries, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains, and other forms of transportation are feeling the brunt of the closure. I am taking BART for many reasons. First, there is a station fifteen miles from my home. Second, it is one of the first stops so I can easily find a seat before the train car fills. Third, it is not affected by traffic jams.
I usually ride a company bus in every day to work and see the same fifty people. Now I am riding with completely different group of people everyday. I like seeing new faces and wondering what their stories are. I am not a big fan of thinking about H1N1 in that place, but I am not a big "germophobe."
On Friday, an attractive lady was sitting diagonal from me, in a backward facing seat. She was about my age. I noticed her the moment she sat down. I started reading my book and got that sensation to look up and she was looking at me. She quickly looked down. A few minutes later I returned the favor. When she looked up, I smiled and she smiled. I then had to get off at my stop. I love those little flirtatious moments that are born, grow and pass on in a few minutes. Not all of life's adventures need words spoken or deep meaning. Sometimes a flirtatious glance from a stranger is all that is needed.
EDIT- Just got word the bridge is open!

I wish there had been some flirtatious little moments when I was in stopped traffic on I-94 coming back from Detroit last night, or when someone in front of me took ten minutes to figure out pay a toll at a self-service booth today, or minutes later when someone slowed traffic to 5 mph on the local bypass on my way home from school.
